From October 14 to 17, 2025, the Agrupamento de Escolas da Maia (AEM) proudly joined the global community for the 9th edition of the ErasmusDays. These days represent an international six-day celebration of the Erasmus+ programme, inviting people throughout the world to come together to organize or participate in events that celebrate the projects and opportunities proposed by the programme. For students, teachers, and the wider community in Maia, it was a unique moment to promote the multitude of benefits resulting from European cooperation and to showcase our specific commitment to the future of learning.
The center of our celebrations was the presentation of the Digital for Active Education project. This initiative highlights a fundamental shift in our pedagogical approach, where technology is not just an add-on but a catalyst for active learning. Throughout the four days of events at AEM, we demonstrated how digital tools are being used to move beyond traditional instruction, empowering our students to become the true protagonists of their education. By fostering essential 21st-century skills—such as critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and digital literacy—the project is transforming the classroom into a dynamic space of discovery.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the week was the active involvement of our school community. Students took the lead in interactive workshops, showing their peers and teachers how digital platforms have increased their autonomy and engagement. These sessions also provided a valuable platform for dialogue with parents and local stakeholders, illustrating how Erasmus+ funding is being translated into a modern, inclusive, and forward-thinking educational environment right here in Maia.
