Maia inaugurated the Carlos Fiolhais Innovation Center

In June 2025, the Municipality of Maia and CDI Portugal officially inaugurated the Carlos Fiolhais Innovation Center, located at Parque Central on Rua Simão Bolívar. Representing a strategic investment of over 1.5 million euros, this new facility serves as a "digital citizenship laboratory" designed to provide equal technological access to the community. A central highlight of the inauguration was the active participation of students from the Maia Schools Group, who were invited to showcase the practical applications of digital sovereignty. These students presented the "RaZi" and "Heatsync" projects, both developed under the Erasmus+ Digital for Active Education program, demonstrating how young people can use technology to solve real-world problems and foster social innovation.
