Second L.T.T.

6/09/2024

The second LTT took place in Porto, Portugal, from September 2 to 6, 2024, and focused on integrating digital tools — specifically micro:bit and Arduino — into STEAM teaching practices.

Teachers began the training with hands-on sessions exploring micro:bit’s functionalities and the use of block coding through Microsoft MakeCode and Tinkercad platforms. These tools allowed participants to design simple interactive activities and simulations suitable for classroom environments.

As the training progressed, teachers transitioned to more advanced content, learning the basics of line coding in Arduino and how to integrate sensors and circuit elements for experimental purposes. Practical exercises involved assembling prototypes and creating educational projects that combined hardware and software elements, making digital learning more accessible and engaging for students. Participants also developed their own original activities using either micro:bit or Arduino, including step-by-step guides and evaluation criteria. These activities were then presented, discussed, and refined in collaborative sessions. The training concluded with a compilation of all materials produced and the definition of follow-up tasks, including implementation in schools and publication on the eTwinning project space. This LTT significantly increased teachers’ digital competencies, equipping them with the skills and confidence to incorporate technology into STEAM lessons and support students in developing their own creative tech-based solutions
