4th GEL Rodou (Secondary High School) is a public General upper Secondary school in Rhodes city. It offers upper general secondary education to students aged 15-18. The school has 43 teachers, 453 students and 3 persons of non-teaching staff.
Due to touristic economical development in the last decades on Rhodes island, the school receives students from diferente social, financial and cultural backgrounds. The highest priorities of the school are to promote:
1. Improvement of school performance for every student. The school aims to provide high quality of general and specialised education for every student according to their interests, needs and skills by supporting differentiated learning and special learning needs. Most of the school’s students take part and succeed in the final national exams and continue their studies in greek universities.
2. A happy and creative school environment for all students. Students are constantly encouraged to participate actively in many curricular and extracurricular activities.
3. Participation in national and international competitions of science in order to identify and support talented students and enhance their interest in science.
4. Active citizenship. Education for democratic citizenship, human rights and intercultural understanding is a high priority of the school program. All students are enhanced to develop their skills and attitudes of active citizenship and civic competences in every future democratic society by learning their rights and responsibilities and implementing activities that show solidarity to other people and the whole community and promote equity and non-discrimination.
5. ICT and digital citizenship. By including ICT in learning process, the school modernises education and promotes digitization and develops the digital competences of students.
6. School cooperation with families and the community. The school supports communication and cooperation with several different groups such as families, society clubs, non profit organisations, municipal and governmental organisations.
7. European small and large scale projects to support european active citizenship. The school encourages participating in Erasmus projects in order to show and develop innovative practices and skills and inspire students to exploit their european identity and all benefits of school cooperation and motilities.
