Hacı Bektaş Veli Anatolian High School which is situated in the Küçükçekmece province of İstanbul was founded in 2019 as an Anatolian High School. There used to be only 273 students that attended grade 9. In 2020 our school turned into a ‘’Project Anatolian High school. It means that various national and international projects are being carried out in our school.

To attend such Project schools the students have to sit for a national high school entrance exam and get high grades. Currently, we have 173 students in grade 9, 300 students in grade 10, 436 students in grade 11, and 213 students in grade 12. To summarise, our school (HBVAL) has 1122 students aged 14-18) and 72 experienced teachers.

Our school is a big school which includes; forty classrooms, six laboratories (physics, chemistry, biology ), a robotic coding workshop, a music room with a piano, two art and design rooms, a library, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, three indoor sports halls and three outdoor sports fields, a big conference hall (ATA) for 600 people, Kent conference hall for 250 people, three mini cinemas for 150 people and last but not least a youth hostel that can host 168 students. There are also two canteens for students and a dining hall for both students and teachers. Two prayer rooms are also available. Furthermore, there are 5 rooms for employees. A gymnastics room is available for the willing students. Our three consultant teachers help our students in their rooms. Our medical room is always open for students who are not feeling well.

Coordinated by school staff students take part in lots of different school activities such as sports activities, cultural and scientific projects, competitions, and art and music-related activities. Chess and Rubik’s cube tournaments are popular with students. Our students like spending time and interacting with their friends using school clubs like cinema club, music club, drama club etc.

Social responsibility projects are defined valuable as they convey our values like friendship, sharing, kindness, respect, caring, forgiveness, trust, creativity, honesty etc.

Hacı Bektas Veli Anatolian High School is a new inexperienced organization in the field of Erasmus plus projects, however, our students are willing to participate in an international project such as Erasmus+. We have already experienced diferente types of projects by completing them over the past three years. Especially, the experience was also acquired from Art and Science projects. In preparation for being part of this application, we also have been learning to integrate Art with STEM disciplines to extend the boundaries of STEAM education and practice. For this integration, our students have been making some products for Harezmi, Technofest (Technology Team of Turkey) and Tübitak (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) organizations and then they exhibit it at school by inviting other students and schools to na exhibition in the city. They also take part in national competitions with their projects and products. Science teachers, especially Chemistry teachers are interested in doing experiments or making some products like soap, cologne etc. with their students in laboratories. Physics teachers are also leading a robotic coding project currently.

This application is handy for several reasons. With the partner of this Project, we will be able to learn more about Project development and writing, our students will learn to take their responsibility, and they will have a chance to learn about each other’s cultures and lifestyles. They will also have conversations in English and will get acquainted with STEAM careers earlier. All our students are ready and excited about this project and they are enthusiastic about this adventure.
